About the Speaker    

 Dr. Barad is an Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  From July 1984 until April 2001, Dr. Barad, MD served on the full time faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology & Women’s Health.  He also served as the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Montefiore Medical Center.  After graduating from Rutgers Medical School in 1978, Dr. Barad completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in 1982. 

Dr. Barad went on to sub-specialty training in the Reproductive Endocrinology Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School.  He finished his fellowship at Harvard in 1984. 

Dr. Barad served on many hospital and medical school committees and was a lecturer for both the clinical and pre-clinical curriculums at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Barad has published extensively in the field of reproductive endocrinology and has achieved a national and international reputation in that discipline.   He is the recipient of the 1996 Kokopelli Ball Resolve of New York City Chapter Award for “outstanding dedication and commitment to family building”.

Dr. Barad is a Co-Investigator on the Women’s Health Initiative, the largest clinical trial ever to study the health of women after their menopause.   Dr. Barad is actively involved in the national leadership of this important study.

Dr. Barad recently completed the Masters of Science Clinical Research Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  This NIH k-30 sponsored program provides training in clinical research design and statistical analysis, research ethics, data collection techniques, questionnaire design, grant writing, and critical assessment of medical literature.

Dr. Barad presently practices in Manhattan at the Center for Human Reproduction, where he is Director of Assisted Reproductive Technology.
